The Value of Transcending

I like to think of energy like pulling the arrow back on a bow. A weak setup will result in an arrow gone awry or fizzling out soon after it has left the bow. A strong, deep, accurate pull with true aim will more likely send the arrow flying clearly and directly to its target. Transcending is like pulling the bow way back, then releasing that energy into your daily life. It allows you to directly tap into the underlying power and silence, and draw that energy back into your daily activities.

Dipping and Fading

In India, one of the traditional ways they dye silk is to dip it in a vat of saffron dye, then set it out in the sun to fade. It turns almost white again. Then they dip it again and fade it again. This time a little more color stays. They continue the dip and fade process until the silk holds the deep orange saffron color almost without regard for the sun’s fading influence.

Tapping into the transcendent silence through meditation is like that. We dip into the transcendent like diving into the vat of dye, and then bring that silent, focused, powerful "color" of the transcendent back into our everyday activity with us. Our activity causes the effect we drew back with us to fade. We dip and fade, dip and fade over days, weeks, months and years of meditating regularly. Over time, more and more of that powerful, silent, seed-like energy is maintained in everyday life and available for our use. The benefits are cummulative and powerful!
